Dead Island 2 was originally being developed by Spec Ops: The Line studio Yager; which could’ve been interesting. However, after being delayed to 2016, Yager were dropped from the project. After going a while with no developer, Sumo Digital were announced to be working on it. I think that’s what is known as “troubled development”. Still, it hasn’t officially been cancelled yet, so we’ll keep it around in 2017.

Mass Effect: Andromeda (BioWare): Q1 2017
Two E3s have passed without a whole lot of specifics being revealed about this game; but there’s said to be more exploration, more Mako (yay?) and, one can assume, more romances. It is BioWare, after all. You’re not playing as Shepard this time (you’re ‘Ryder’ instead), and it all takes place far, far away from the events of the first trilogy. Q1 2017 is said to be the release window, so late March is a possibility.
Ghost Recon Wildlands (Ubisoft): 7 March 2017
Ghost Recon goes open world in Wildlands, as part of some sort of unholy union between Ubisoft’s tendencies towards open worlds and anything with the name Tom Clancy on it. You’ll apparently be infiltrating and destroying Bolivian drug cartels, either solo or with some co-op pals. As of E3 2016, coming in March 2017.
Sniper Elite 4 (Rebellion): 14 February 2017
Another title hoping to get lover’s hearts pumping on Valentine’s Day. This sequel is set after Sniper Elite 3, a game which we rather enjoyed. Players are being transported to Italy in 1943 and elite marksman Karl Fairburne also returns to take down those damn Nazis.
Hitman (IO Interactive): January 2017
Hitman is being released as an episodic title, and is so far (some online-only rubbish notwithstanding) well on its way to competing with Blood Money for the best in series badge. But if you’re wondering when all the episodes will be complete and the full game can be purchased in one go, all signs point to early 2017.

Dishonored 2 (Arkane): 11 November
As Emily (or Corvo,) you’ll be travelling to Serkonos to dispense Outsider-powered justice to various unpleasant, oppressive types. The E3 trailer gave this a bit of a Thief 2: The Metal Age vibe, which is something I desperately want to be true. New powers, new levels, new protagonist option, voiced main characters, and more new bits you’d expect from a sequel.

Moto Racer 4: October 13
This game is developed and being powered by UNREAL Engine 4. This game comes with 15 challenges for riders in both single player and multiplayer mods. Since Moto Racer 4 is developed under the supervision of original designer Paul Cuisset, we can hope this game version will capture the original's magic.

Battlefield 1 (DICE): 21 October
The predominately multiplayer shooter heads back in time to World War 1 in an effort to adapt it’s usual brand of dynamic destruction and class-based modes to the most senseless conflicts of the early 20th century. No playable French army in multiplayer, for some bizarre reason. Which is a bit like leaving America out of World War 2.
Gears of War 4 (The Coalition): 11 October – Windows 10 only
Gears of War 4 is potentially one of the biggest exclusive titles of 2016 for Xbox One and Windows 10, marking the return of the iconic franchise in gruesomely fantastic style.
Developed by Microsoft's first-party studio The Coalition, Gears of War 4 marks the beginning of a second trilogy with new enemies, threats and environments to be discovered.
Old favorites such as Marcus Fenix make a return, as do the dastardly Locust threat from previous games. Of course, it wouldn't be a sequel without some new enemies to deal with, and some gnarly new weapons to obliterate them.
