Battlefield 1 (DICE): 21 October

The predominately multiplayer shooter heads back in time to World War 1 in an effort to adapt it’s usual brand of dynamic destruction and class-based modes to the most senseless conflicts of the early 20th century. No playable French army in multiplayer, for some bizarre reason. Which is a bit like leaving America out of World War 2.

Gears of War 4 (The Coalition): 11 October – Windows 10 only

Gears of War 4 is potentially one of the biggest exclusive titles of 2016 for Xbox One and Windows 10, marking the return of the iconic franchise in gruesomely fantastic style.
Developed by Microsoft's first-party studio The Coalition, Gears of War 4 marks the beginning of a second trilogy with new enemies, threats and environments to be discovered.
Old favorites such as Marcus Fenix make a return, as do the dastardly Locust threat from previous games. Of course, it wouldn't be a sequel without some new enemies to deal with, and some gnarly new weapons to obliterate them.

Mafia 3 : October 7

Mafia 3 is promising a “cinematic narrative that responds to player choice,” set in what sounds like a pretty open city of New Orleans. At the very least it’s said to be one which “responds to Lincoln’s actions,” as he sets about getting revenge on the Italian mob and setting up his own criminal network.
